Football Team Holds First Practice of 2011 Season

Under First Year Coach Matt Walker

The Falcon football team had its first practice of the 2011 season on Monday afternoon at Ramer Field.

Matt Walker starts his first year as head coach of the Falcons. In three years as head coach at DePauw University he had a 22-8 record. Jake Wissing is the team's new offensive coordinator. Returning to the coaching staff are defensive coordinator Greg Bower and special teams coordinator and linebackers coach Jeff Rogers.

Senior Greg Klingelhutz set a NCAA Div. III record with 1,017 kickoff return yards and tied the mark of 49 kickoff returns last year. He needs 29 returns and 644 yards to set the NCAA career record. Senior running back Taylor Edwards has posted back-to-back 1,000 yard rushing seasons - the first Falcon to accomplish the feat since 1989-90.

The Falcons open their season on Sept. 10 when they host No. 5 ranked St. Thomas at Ramer Field.

Go Falcons!
