Women's Basketball Loses Third Straight With Loss to UWSP - Video Added

The Falcon women's basketball team fell 63-43 to the three-time defending WIAC champions, UW-Stevens Point Saturday at the Karges Center.

Tess Lueders (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater) led the way for UWRF with 14 points. She also had six rebounds for the Falcons who have now lost three straight. Brittany Gregorich (Altoona, WI, Altoona) added 11 points and seven rebounds to go along with a team-high three blocks.

The Falcons ran into a UWSP team that was sharp-shooting. The Pointers were 17-52 from the field for 44 percent on the night. They shot 14-26 in the second half alone for 53.8 percent.

UWRF meanwhile shot only 30 percent throughout the game. They were 17-56.

A big difference in the game came at the charity stripe.  The Falcons only attempted six shots, and while they made all six of them, UWSP got to the line 16 times, connecting on 12. Gregorich, Lueders and Holly Riesselman (Cottage Grove, MN, Park) were each 2-2 from the line.

With the loss the Falcons fall to 9-9 overall and 3-6 in the WIAC.  UWSP meanwhile improves to 15-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play.  UWSP has also swept the regular season series between the two schools. On Jan. 3 the Pointers came away with the 77-65 victory.

Up next for the Falcons is an away match at UW-Stout.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Stout.  The Falcons defeated the Blue Devils on Dec. 12 72-61 at the Karges Center.
