Falcon Student-Athletes Earn WIAC All-Academic Honor

Student-athletes at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls earned the 2009-10 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Award for their outstanding performance in the classroom.

The award recognizes WIAC institutions whose student-athletes' grade point average is equal to or higher than the institution's overall grade point average.  In 2009-10 the Falcon student-athletes' grade point average was 2.946 while the overall UWRF grade point average was 2.923.  One hundred ninety (197) Falcon student-athletes had a grade point average of 3.0 or better during the academic year.

“This is another example of how engaged Falcon student-athletes are regarding the academic rigors of college life,” said Athletic Director, Roger Ternes. “They are model students for the young men and women who attend the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to emulate”.

This is the eighth time in the past 10 years that the Falcons have earned this prestigious award.  Falcon athletics has more than 400 student-athletes competing in 18 sports.  UWRF is a NCAA Div. III institution with an overall enrollment of about 6,700 students.
