Falcon Athletics Participates in Division III Week

This week UW-River Falls Athletics will be celebrating NCAA Division III Week with some special activities scheduled for Saturday at Ramer Field.

The NCAA is promoting the first ever NCAA Division III Week, which is a celebration of three focus areas that include academics, athletics and student-athletes' involvement in the community.

Crystal Lanning, UW-River Falls assistant athletic director says, “The main goal of the NCAA Division III Week is to build a greater awareness and appreciation for Division III athletics.”

This week provides a great opportunity to celebrate the impact of athletics and student-athletes in the community and on campus.

In celebration of this event, the UWRF Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host a tailgate event at Ramer Field on Saturday, April 14 from noon-2 p.m. Tailgating will take place along with the track and field meet and softball games. Yard games and snacks will be available at this event. The event is open to all members of the UWRF community and especially the River Falls community. “Our hope is that people from the River Falls community will come out to not only learn more about UWRF, but about NCAA Division III athletics in general.”

Acknowledgement for accomplishments in the three focus areas will be given throughout the Falcon track and field Invitational and a WIAC softball doubleheader against UW-Superior. Lanning adds, “We are encouraging everyone to come out and support Division III athletics. I am looking forward to getting a large group of people together in a fun environment to watch our student-athletes in action.”

The track and field meet begins at 11 a.m. and the first pitch of the softball game will be at noon.
