Falcon hockey player
Jason Yuel has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Capital One All-Academic District 6 at-large team.
Yuel's name now moves onto the national Academic All-America ballot; these national awards (first, second and third team) is voted upon by the Academic All-America Committee members and current CoSIDA Board of Directors. The national awards will be announced on June 5.

Yuel, an economics major with a minor in business administration, earned the honor with a 3.77 cumulative grade point average. He played in all 27 games for the Falcons this year and finished with seven goals and 27 points. He led the team in assists (20) and tied for the team lead in scoring. He had two power-play goals and one game-winner. He was named to the first All-NCHA team, and earned honorable mention to the All-WIAC team, in 2012. Yuel helped the Falcons win the WIAC championship in 2010 and 2012.
Earlier this year he was named the NCHA's Co-Scholar-Athlete. He has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and to the 2010, 2011 and 2012 NCHA All-Academic teams. Yuel has been named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship team in each of the past three seasons. He has won the team's Student-Athlete Award in 2011 and 2012 and this year was named UWRF's Top Male Scholar-Athlete. Yuel, who has earned two Excellent in Economics awards, has been named to the UWRF Dean's List eight times. He is a three year captain of the team and won the 2010 hockey team's Coaches' Achievement award. Yuel has been a volunteer speaker about leadership at the River Falls middle school and has donated to the team's Christmas Bike For a Kid program.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
