The Falcon softball team's 2014 Hit For Lupus game was another success with the team donating $645.58 to the Minnesota Lupus Foundation.
The team raised the money during its April 26 WIAC doubleheader against UW-Platteville at Ramer Field. The money raised came from a 50/50 raffle and the sale of Hit For Lupus t-shirts.
"The UWRF softball team feels it is important to support the fight to find a cure for lupus," said Falcon Coach
Faye Perkins. "Several players have personal connections with family and friends who are impacted by this autoimmune disease. We want to thank everyone who donated and helped us raise the money. Although lupus can occur in both men and women, 90 percent of people with lupus are women, most likely between the ages between 14-45. Â Our contribution will help support the the research to find a cure and more effective treatments for those affected by lupus. Every little bit helps!
This is the fifth year the Falcons have hosted a Hit For Lupus game. Including this year's total, the team has donated about $3,000 to the Minnesota Lupus Foundation in the past five years.
