Sibley Named National Player of the Year; 4 Falcons Named All-American

Adrian, MI (uwrfsports.com) Senior forward Dani Sibley has been named the 2017 Laura Hurd Award winner by the American Hockey Coaches Association. The Laura Hurd award is given to the best women's hockey player in all of Division III, this is the first time program history that a member of UW-River Falls has won the award. Dani Sibley and Paige Johnson were both named first team All-American and Carly Moran and Angie Hall were named second team All-American. Johnson receives the All-American honor for the third straight year and second straight year for Sibley. 

Dani Sibley led the Falcon offense this year by setting a new record for goals scored in a single season with 27 and a new single season record for assists with 38. She also broke her own record for points in a single season with 65. Sibley led the nation in multiple offensive categories, shorthanded goals with 4, assists per game with a 1.31 avg., and points per game with a 2.24 avg. Sibley ranked 4th in the country with 27 goals scored this season. Sibley ranks first in program history in points for her career with 168, assists with 87, and ranks second in goals scored with 81.   

Senior defensemen Paige Johnson has been named first team All-American for 3 consecutive seasons. Johnson ranks 14th in the nation in points per game for a defensemen. Johnson finishes her career with 78 points, 60 assists and 18 goals. 

Junior forward Carly Moran was named second team All-American. Moran finished the season with 22 goals and 29 assists, good for 51 points on the season. Moran was 5th in the country in points per game with a 1.76 avg. per game. She ranked 5th in the nation in goals per game and 10th in assists per game. 

Junior goaltender Angie Hall was named second team All-American. Hall set the school record and led the nation with 8 shutouts on the season. Hall's career record in net is now 67-13-3. Hall's 67 wins in net is a school record.
