1983 Hall of Fame Inductees

Joe Braun
Joe Braun played baseball and football for four years, and basketball for two years at the university. He captained the 1932 football team and was named to the all-conference team as an end that year. He was the freshman team's coach as a senior. He was the president of the R Club as a senior. He started the first baseball team at Neenah High School and has been picked as the Fox Valley Coach of the Year. He received the Red Smith award in 1967-68.

 

Arnold Feiler
Arnold Feiler competed in football for four years, track for three years and basketball one year. He was an all-conference fullback in 1947 when the Falcons won the conference title. He was vice-president of the R Club when he was a senior. His coaching record includes three high school conference football champions.

 

Harry Gibbs
Harry Gibbs played football, basketball and golf at the university. He played on the conference championship winning basketball teams of 1947-50. The Falcons competed in the national tournament in 1947-49. He was also an all-conference guard in 1949. He has coached a state high school championship golf team and has seven basketball teams compete in the state tournament. He has been selected to the Wisconsin High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.

 

David Herum
David Herum played basketball from 1954-57 and was the conference scoring leader in 1956-57. He was named to the all-conference team that same year and also received NAIA second team All-America honors in 1957. He captained the 1957 Falcons.

 

Don Koepnick
Don Koepnick lettered four times in basketball form 1960-63. He was named to the all-conference team in 1963. He was also named to the UPI small college all-State team in 1962-63. He led the conference in scoring in 1963. He has also won the Dave Engler Memorial award in 1961-63.

 

Emogene Nelson
Emogene Nelson was on the UW-RF Health, Physical Education and Recreation staff from 1958 until she went on a medical leave. She was the advisor to the women's Recreation Association, advisor to Lambda Phi, chairperson of the physical education department and a member of the universities athletic committee during her years at River Falls. She was also the executive director of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 1977. She was the president of the Wisconsin Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation and a historian for the Midwest District of the American Health Association.

 

Jack Neuer
Jack Neuer lettered four years in football at the university and helped the Falcons to a conference title in 1958. He was named to the all-conference team as an end in 1957-59. He received honorable mention to the Little all-America team in 1959. He has coached a Class C Bantam hockey team to a Wisconsin State Championship.

 

Ted Ragatz
Ted Ragatz lettered four years in football from 1963-66. He was the team's Most Valuable Player in 1964. He was named to the all-conference team as a defensive back in 1964-66 and earned all-NAIA District 14 honors the same years. He was named to the UPI all-State team in 1965-66. He received NAIA all-American honorable mention honors in 1966 and was a co-captain of the 1966 Falcons.

 

Dick Sievert
Dick Sievert lettered four years in football form 1964-67. He was the team's Most Valuable Player in 1967. He received all-conference honors as an offensive tackle in 1965-67 and was a co-captain of the 1967 team. He was named to the all-NAIA District 14 team in 1967 and received honorable mention to the NAIA all-American team in 1966-67. He was named Wisconsin's best offensive lineman in 1967 and was named to the UPI all-State small college first team that same year.

 

Marvin Thompson
Marvin Thompson was a member of the UW-RF Agriculture Education department and retired in 1982. He was the university's faculty representative to the Wisconsin Sate University Conference for 22 years and just the third person in the university's history to hold the position. He was also a member of the athletic committee for six years before becoming faculty representative and was a member of the athletic committee through his years as faculty representative. He was the president of the WSUC in 1963-64, 69-70, and 76-77.
