Men's Hockey Team Participates in Walk to End Alzheimer's

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Falcon hockey team participated in an Alzheimer's Walk to End Alzheimer's event held in New Richmond, Wis.

"All of the team members were there and when the other people in the Walk saw the team come in, they got very fired up," said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman. "It was an extremly worthy cause and we were proud to be part of it."

The team, and the Falcon Face Off Club, made a financial donation to the walk. The walk covered about two miles and there were about 350 people in the walk, according to Freeman.

The Walk held special meaning to the Falcons since former Falcons Jake and Josh Calleja's grandmother, Darlene Calleja, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease about eight years ago. Read a pre-Walk story by Judy Wiff.

Jake played for the Falcons from 2011-13 and Josh from 2009-11.

Saturday's Walk surpassed the $33,000 fund-raising goal. Read a post-Walk story by Michael Foley. Donations can still be made by going here.
