Prior to UW-River Falls
Hess joined the Falcons as a forward from Cold Spring, Minn., where she played high school hockey for River Lakes. As a senior, she was her team’s leading scorer with 35 goals and 17 assists for 52 points, which placed her as the 11th  leading scorer in Minnesota. A two-year two captain and a National Honor Society member, she was a First Team All-Conference award winner all four years in high school and was a National Camp player at ages 15-17. Sophia is the daughter of Jessica and Chad Hess and has one brother. She is majoring in Exercise and Sports Science.
