The UW-River Falls Falcons (13-19) fell in three sets to UW-Stevens Point (28-4) in the WIAC semifinal game and will play UW-Oshkosh in the third place game tomorrow.
UWRF dropped the first set 25-16, the second set 25-12 and tried to comeback in the third but lost 25-22 to lose the match.
Brianna Muetzel and
Katie Duff combined for 13 of the Falcons 26 kills in the match.
Tayler Fertig added five kills while
Kadie Brooks led in service aces with two.
Michaela Piechowski added a service ace as well.
Raven Klein had a strong match with 22 assists while helping the defense with nine digs.
Lexi Pingel led in digs with 15 of the 51 while Muetzel had 10 and Piechowski recorded nine Brooks had seven. Fertig and
Lisa Keppers each accounted for three blocks.
UWRF will play Oshkosh at noon tomorrow to decide the third place winner in the WIAC tournament. The Falcons have no seniors on the team.
