UW-River Falls Falcons Coach
Cindy Holbrook won her 200th career game on a night the Falcons traveled to St. Scholastica and took a 79-58 victory led by
Richell Mehus who recorded a double-double.
Mehus finished with 14 points while grabbing a game high 10 rebounds as
Taylor Karge kept her hot streak as of late going leading all UWRF scorers with 17 points on the night while adding five rebounds.
Karge scored the game first basket 56 seconds in and the Falcons would never look back, leading the rest of the game. With 3:51 left Mehus extended the Falcons lead to 12 and a Karge layup and
Kate Theisen three pointer not long after made it a 35-20 game with 2:29 left in the half. UWRF took a 37-22 lead into halftime.
The Falcons kept the momentum going in the second half. Coming off a game where they drilled 15 shots from behind the arc, UWRF hit another six from there tonight.
CSS was led in scoring by Mariah Hovick who finished with a game high 25 points in the loss. UWRF shot strong from the field going 28-58 (48.3%) and 6-16 from three (37.5%) while adding 17-25 (68%) from the charity stripe.
Jessie Van Wyhe put together a complete game scoring 11 points, grabbing five rebounds and dished out four assists.
Balancing out a strong team effort was Theisen scoring eight points and recording six rebounds,
Hannah Pignato with eight points and
Hayley Rau added six points and seven rebounds.
The win bumps the Falcons record to 6-9 on the season. They will look to take the momentum from their past two games into UW-Stevens Point for a big WIAC match up with tip off set for 3 p.m.
