The UW-River Falls Falcons have not lost since Dec. 10 after going into UW-Superior and winning 4-1 with solid contributions all around.
"We played a great game tonight," said Falcon Coach
Joe Cranston. "All three lines played well. I really liked our work ethic out of ever player."
Brianna Breiland,
Dani Sibley and
Carly Moran all notched a goal and an assist in the win. The Yellowjackets got on the board first at 10:59 of the first period but that would be their lone goal on the evening. At 14:13 Brieland scored a power play goal assisted by
Chloe Kinsel who leads all Falcons in scoring with 37 on the season.
In the second period UWRF took control of the game. At 5:40
Alice Cranston scored a goal assisted by Breiland. Cranston has a team second 14 goals and 29 points this season.
Breiland who has seen increased production since moving over to Kinsel and Alice Cranston's line now has 15 points on the season.
Shortly after on the power play the Falcons lit the lamp again with Moran scoring a goal assisted by Sibley and Karleigh Wolkerstorfer. Once more at 10:29 UWRF scored as Sibley found the back of the net assisted by Dani Buehrer and Moran. Sibley has a team third 22 points, Moran is right behind with 21 points and Buehrer has six points. The Falcons ripped 42 shots on goal while
Angie Hall played strong in net stopping 28 of the Yellowjackets 29 shots and improves to 13-3-1 on the season. UWRF went 2-4 on the power play while UWS went 0-2 on their chances.
UWRF improves to 16-3-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the WIAC after the win. They will play UWS again next Saturday, this time at Hunt Arena with the drop of the puck set for 2:05 p.m.
