Despite besting UW-Platteville in points in the paint, points off turnovers, second chance points and bench points, UW-River Falls fell 87-82 on Saturday.
Plateville was led by Stacy Clark who put in 26 points.
The Falcons started off hot, but it did not stay that way for long. River Falls scored the first seven points of the game and had their biggest lead of the game at 10-2 at the 17:18 mark. Less than four minutes later, Platteville grabbed the lead. The teams would battle back in fourth in the middle of the first half, but Platteville owned the lead the four minutes of the half which lead to a 42-39 halftime score.
The second half started off well for the Falcons with them scoring the first five points of the half again and regaining the lead. A little over a minute into the half, Katie Messman hit a three-pointer to give the Falcons a 44-42 lead. That was the only lead the Falcons had in the second half.
Platteville would bring their lead up to a high of 12 twice in the second half, but that would be whittled down to a five-point lead by the end of the game.
The points were spread around for the Falcons. Freshman Taylor Karge led the way with 21 points with Richel Mehus and Messman right behind with 19 and 18 points apiece. All 18 points for Messman came from behind the arc which is a new career high. Hannah Pignato led the bench brigade with 11 points.
With the victory, Platteville improves to 15-10.
The Falcons finish the season witha  record of 9-16 overall. The team loses no seniors from this years squad.Â
