RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – A rough fourth quarter haunted the UW-River Falls women's basketball game in a 55-67 loss at home on Tuesday night to Bethel University.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons led after the first quarter by six after trailing most of the quarter.  Taylor Karge started a 17-1 run with five minutes remaining to put the Falcons up 22-16.
  • The Falcons maintained their lead through the second quarter and broke at halftime with a 32-25 lead. 
  • In the first half, the Falcons were 13-27 (48.1 percent) from the floor and 4-6 from the charity stripe.  Taylor Karge led the way with eight points on 4-8 shooting.  Anna Rollag came off the bench for six points on 2-2 shooting. 
  • The Falcons raced out to an eleven point lead scoring six of the first eight points.
  • The Royals responded with a six point run that got them within four points of the Falcons in the third quarter. 
  • The fourth quarter was controlled by the Royals who had 27 points total.  They started the quarter with back to back three point shots by Jasmin Bretoi and Taite Anderson.   
  • The Royals put up four more 3-pointers in a row to seal the deal and secure the win over the Falcons. 
  • In the second half, the Royals were 7-10 from downtown (70 percent).  The Falcons were 8-30 from the floor and Taylor Karge had 10 points on 5-11 shooting. 
 
IN-DEPTH LOOK
  • Taylor Karge led the team in scoring with 18 points on 9-19 shooting. She added six rebounds and four blocks to her point total.
  • Crystal Pearson and Madelyn O'Brien each came off the bench and scored eight points.  Pearson had a team high nine rebounds.
  • From the floor UWRF was 21-57 (36.8 percent) and connected on just two three pointers in the game.
  • At the free throw line the Falcons were 11-18 (61.1 percent).

THE OPPOSITION
  • Bethel was led by Abby Miller and Taite Anderson who each had 18 points.   Miller was 5-10 on shooting including 3-9 from the arc and 3-4 from the line.  Anderson was 7-12 and 2-2 from the arc. 
  • Hannah Johnson had 12 points on 6-11 shooting. 
  • From the floor, Bethel was 25-56 (44.6 percent) and nailed ten three pointers in the contest. As a team the Royals were 7-12 (58.3 percent) from the charity stripe.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Falcons will play on the road with a next matchup against Gustavus Adolphus November 30th.  Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in St. Peter, MN.
