RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - UW-River Falls let in two late goals against UW-Oshkosh on Saturday in a 2-0 loss to the Titans. Delaney Karl scored her second goal of the year in the 75th minute, and Mallory Knight added a goal from Karl in the 86th minute to move the Titans to third place in the WIAC.
UW-Oshkosh outshot the Falcons 10-7 in the first half, and
Haley Crosby made five saves in the opening 45 minutes. She made four more in the second half, but Erin Toomey stood out in goal and made enough stops to secure the win.
Peri Hoff and
Mariah Troje forced saves from Toomey in the closing minutes, but the Falcons were held scoreless for the fifth time in the last six games.
Troje led the Falcons with three shots, and four different UWRF players recorded a shot on goal. The Falcons were still outshot by a 23-12 margin, including 11-4 for shots on goal. They also performed three fewer corner kicks than the Titans and were equal on fouls. UWRF is now 9-7-1 overall and 2-3 in the WIAC, which sets them at the five seed in the WIAC tournament. They will return home on Wednesday when they play UW-Eau Claire at 3 p.m.
