Whitewater, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls Women's Basketball team battled a tough Warhawk squad throughout most of the game, but foul trouble for the Falcons helped Whitewater pull away at the end to get the 83-72 victory.

WHAT HAPPENED
- A back and fourth game early had the two teams trading punches. Brynn Liljander tied the game at 18 after a shot from beyond the arc found the bottom of the net with 3:34 to go in the 1st quarter.
- The Falcons took a one point lead into the end of the first quarter after two made free throws by Madelyn O'Brien with 3 seconds left in the quarter.
- The Warhawks came out of the 1st quarter break strong going on a 7-0 run after a 3-pointer for Brook Trewyn. Warhawks lead 33-27 with 8 minutes to play in the first half.
- The Falcons would slowly chip away at the Warhawk lead. After two made free throws from Brynn Liljander with 3:40 to play in the half, the Falcons only trailed by 1.
- The two teams continued to battle back and fourth and after a bomb from beyond the arc with just 3 seconds left in the half, Brynn Liljander got the Falcons within 2 points at the break. Warhawks lead 44-42 at the break.
- The tightly contested first half lead to more of the same to start the second half after a Taylor Karge jump shot bought the Falcons with 1. Warhawks lead 52-51 with 5:27 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
- After two free throws from Anna Rollag, the Falcons trailed 60-56 heading into the final quarter.
- The Warhawks extended their lead to 9 after a successful, 2-2 trip to the line by Malia Smith. Warhawks lead 64-55 with a little over 7 minutes to play in the game.
- The Warhawks kept their lead at arm's distance from the Falcons as they failed to climb back into the game. Warhawks closed out the Falcons, 83-72.

- Brynn Liljander was the leading scorer for the Falcons with 23 points. Liljander was 7-16 from the floor, 3-4 from beyond the arc and 6-6 from the line.
- Taylor Karge also added 16 points in the loss for the Falcons.
