HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST UW-STEVENS POINT
  • The first period began with both teams playing good defensive hockey with neither team being able to generate quality scoring chances.
  • UW-River Falls finally broke through at the 12:54 mark when Erica Schramel came down from her defensive position, and snapped a shot past Sydney Conley for a 1-0 Falcon lead.
  • The Pointers responded later after the Falcons gave the puck away in their own zone.  Shannon Motzko put a move on Tatyana Delaittre, and scored to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Before the end of the period Sam Young scored her 3rd goal of the weekend as she pounced on a loose puck in the crease, and knocked it into a wide open net giving the Falcons a 2-1 lead going into the 1st intermission.
  • The 2nd period saw the Falcons control the play as they out shot the Pointers 16-1.
  • UW-River Falls earned a Power Play early in the period. On that Power Play Callie Hoff took control of the puck in the corner, and skated out front of the Pointer net untouched. She tucked the puck into the net for a 3-1 lead.
  • Late in the period Jessica Bird took the puck out from behind the Pointer net, and centered it to an uncovered Jessie Anderson who scored to make it 4-1.
  • In the 3rd period the Falcons put the game away with two goals. The first came by Kathryn Larson who shot a laser over Conley's right shoulder that caught the upper corner of the net for a 5-1 lead.
  • Just a couple of minutes later Kora Torkelson picked up a loose puck behind the net, and skated out to the side of the net and snuck in over Conley to push the lead to 6-1.
  • Tatyanna Delaittre made 17 saves in the game.
  • Carly Moran collected 2 assists in the game.
