Women's Basketball Drops Fifth Straight

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - UW-River Falls dropped their fifth-straight WIAC game on Saturday afternoon against no. 12 ranked UW-Oshkosh. The Falcons took early 5-0 and 12-6 leads in the first quarter, but their second half shooting and turnovers cost them in a 65-45 loss. After shooting 40 percent from the field and beyond the arc in the first half, the Falcons only shot 3-16 in the second half and 0-8 on three's, also committing 13 of their 22 turnovers in the final two quarters.

The Titans closed the first quarter on a 9-2 run after UWRF took a 12-6 lead from a Jenna Zeman three-pointer. Brianna Leahy took the lead back after she made a three-pointer to go up 17-15, but the Falcons only made two more field goals in the quarter and trailed by 10 points at halftime. UWRF continued their third quarter struggles by only scoring seven points, leaving too little of time to come back in the fourth quarter. The Titans won their ninth straight game against the Falcons and had five players score in double digits.

Zeman led the Falcons with 14 points on 4-8 shooting, and Crystal Pearson made 7-8 free throws and grabbed eight rebounds. Leahy added 11 points and nine rebounds off the bench. UWRF now sits at 1-7 in conference and 7-12 overall, and they will next host UW-Stout at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
