RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team fell 81-61 against UW-Platteville Saturday afternoon at Page Arena.
The Falcons attempted a season-high 28 three-point field goals, but converted just six, while the Pioneers had four players score in double figures and shot 60 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range.
Platteville opened the game on an 11-3 run three minutes into the contest before the Falcons were sparked by a pair of
Haley DeSouza three-pointers. Her second of the half gave UWRF its first lead of the game at 21-20, capping off a 6-0 run.
UWP limited the Falcons to 3-of-18 shooting from the floor in the second frame, outscoring the home team 16-8 to take a 42-31 lead into the break.
UWRF improved its shooting stride in the second half, but the Pioneers continued their consistent play, including a 4-of-9 mark from three-point range in the third quarter to take a 67-49 advantage into the final 10 minutes.
The Falcons pushed in the fourth quarter, but the visitors maintained at least a 16-point lead to bring home the road win.
Jenna Zeman led the Falcons with 17 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 mark at the free throw line.
Kameri Meredith led the team for the second-straight game in rebounds, collecting six.
UW-River Falls returns to action with a non-conference game against Bethany Lutheran College on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
