Men's Track and Field

Multiple Records Set by Track and Field

Another week and another impressive outing led by Lexi LeFever and Eli Dodge, the Falcons' track and field team competed at home on Saturday and are beginning to hit their stride collectively.

"Week three of meets brought more opportunities to compete and learn about our races, throws, and jumps" said head coach Colleen Sowa. "Because of so much time off due to Covid-19,  the first few weeks were dedicated to getting back into the groove of what it feels like to complete full throws, jumps and races. This week we were able to dig more into the nuts and bolts of how to compete at our best in our specific events. We had improvements, which is great to see, but their is still more learning to be done."

LeFever broke her own school record in the 60m, which she set earlier this season, cruising across the finish line in a blistering time of 7.75. She also took first place in the 200m (25.51), the long jump (5.52m), and teamed up with Sarah LangloisMarlee Dietrich, and Emmy Farago to win the 4x400 relay (4:10.79).

Not to be outdone, Dodge also turned in a lifetime best in the 60m, breaking the seven second threshold for the first time, finishing in 6.96 and winning the race. His time places him 6th on the WIAC Honor Roll.

In his first open 400m race of the season, Dylan Watcher finished in second place with a time of 50.39, a mere 0.01 second behind the winner. On the women's side, Sarah Langlois was able to win the 400m in a time of 1:00.19. Both Watcher and Langlois' times put them at third on the WIAC Honor Roll.

Farago turned in a time of 10:39.17 in the 3000m which currently places her at 5th in the WIAC.

Other Falcons that finished first in their even include Maria Laudenbach in the mile, Kimberly Robertson in the pole vault, James Heeg in the mile, and Peter Place in the wieght throw. The quartet of Watcher, Heeg, Trever Jensen, and Collin Fluno also finished in first in the 4x400 meter relay.

Both teams will be in action again on Wednesday and Thursday, February 24-25, at UW-Stevens Point.
