RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team fell by a score of 4-2 during its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener versus UW-La Crosse on Wednesday afternoon at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
The Falcons, now 5-6-1 overall and 0-1 during WIAC action, took a 2-0 first half advantage before the Eagles responded with four unanswered goals in the second half to bring home the road victory.
While UWL controlled the majority of possession in the first half, UWRF capitalized on a pair of chances. At the 23rd minute,
Kassidy Mackie scored her fourth goal of the season, finishing off a great ball from
Aliviah McClinton.
Mackie's goal was her fourth in the past two games, coming off a hat-trick versus Finlandia on Saturday.
McClinton followed up with a goal, unassisted, her second of the season at the 37th minute to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. The Eagles led 14-4 in shots at the break despite the two-goal deficit.
Four separate Eagle scorers tallied goals in the second half to come away with the 4-2 win. UWL stormed into the half with a pair of goals just 13 minutes in to tie the game. Just four minutes later, Natalie Schisel scored the game winner. The visitors added another late for a two-goal cushion.
Kaylie Krueger notched a season-high 11 saves while suffering the loss.
UWRF continues WIAC competition on Saturday at UW-Whitewater. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
