MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's track & field team opened competition at the UW-Stout Warren Bowlus Open on Friday, with a pair of student-athletes taking part in the heptathlon.
Day one of the men's heptathlon featured the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put, and high jump.
With three events left,
Matt Boche is in 11th place with 1,890 points and
Carter Aakre is in 12th with 1,758 points.
Boche's best finish so far was in the 60-meter dash, placing seventh of 11 participants with a time of 7.55.
Aakre finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 5.56 meters.
The final three events of the heptathlon will begin tomorrow morning; 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and the 1,000-meter run.
Field events begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, followed by track events at 12:15 p.m.
