RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 3-ranked and top-seeded UW-River Falls women's hockey team defeated Northland College 9-1 Saturday afternoon to win the two-game semifinal series and advance to the WIAC O'Brien Cup Championship game.
For the seventh consecutive season, the Falcons will meet UW-Eau Claire in the WIAC O'Brien Cup Championship. UWRF, now 23-3-1 overall, will host the No. 2 seeded Blugolds next Saturday, March 4 at 2:05 p.m. inside Hunt Arena.
After a 7-1 win yesterday over the Lumberjills, the Falcons followed up with nine more goals, including eight different scorers.
Abigail Stow scored twice, and
Alex Hantge totaled four points with a goal and three assists. In addition,
Aubrey Nelvin,
Jessica Rubenalt,
Madison Lavergne, and
Challis Prohaska each had a pair of assists.
The Falcons scored three in the first, four in the second, and another two in the third to earn the win.
UWRF scored the eventual game-winner just over seven minutes into regulation, scoring a pair of goals within 20 seconds of each other.

Abigail Stow buried a beautiful back-door pass from
Jessica Rubenalt for the game-winner.
Jordan O'Connor made the start in net and played the first two periods, earning the win to improve her record to 6-2.
Jordan O'Kane played the third period. The duo had three saves each.
