RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The top-ranked and No. 1 seeded UW-River Falls women's hockey team won 5-1 Saturday afternoon at Hunt Arena to sweep the No. 4 seed UW-Stevens Point in the WIAC Tournament Semifinals.
The Falcons, now 27-0 to tie a program record for wins in a season, advance to the WIAC O'Brien Cup Championship. The Falcons will host No. 2 seed UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, March 2 at 2:05 p.m.
UWSP earned its first lead of the weekend seven minutes into regulation and led 1-0 after one period, but the Falcons responded with five unanswered goals for the win.

UWRF converted during its fifth power play chance of the game at 15:31 of the second period, with
Madison Kadrlik scoring on a rebound to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the third period.
Just over four minutes into the third period,
Aubrey Nelvin gave the Falcons their first lead of the game, and the flood gates open. UWRF followed with three unanswered goals in the next seven minutes to claim a 5-1 lead, with another goal from Nelvin along with
Bailey Olson and
Maddie McCollins scoring.
UWRF went 1-for-6 on the power play while turning aside three Pointer power play chances. The Falcons also led 59-16 in shots and 51-15 in the faceoff circle.Â
Jordan O'Connor improved her season record to 19-0 while making 15 saves for the win.
Alex Hantge and
Kaitlyn Ronn both had two assists.
