8/1/2024 8:00:00 AM

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – UW-River Falls Director of Athletics Crystal Lanning announced today several updates to the athletic department's administrative staff.

Kellen Wells-Mangold, who served as the UWRF Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services since 2016, has resigned from his role to pursue another professional opportunity. During his time at UWRF, Wells-Mangold was responsible for overseeing NCAA/WIAC compliance, student-athlete advising and leadership programming, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He was also highly involved in committee roles on campus, within the WIAC, and at the national level.

"I would like to thank Kellen for being a strong leader and partner over the past eight years," Lanning commented. "He was a tremendous advocate for our student-athletes, and we will certainly miss his leadership. I wish him the very best as he pursues a new professional opportunity."

With the departure of Wells-Mangold, current staff members Charlie Sowa and Kristina Burk will take on new roles.

Sowa, a former Falcon student-athlete, has worked at UWRF since 2009 and currently oversees facility and event operations at the Falcon Center. He will transition to an Associate Athletic Director role and will assume new administrative responsibilities with NCAA/WIAC compliance and sport supervision, while maintaining some of his current facility and event responsibilities.

Burk, UWRF's Head Athletic Trainer since 2019, will add the title of UWRF's Senior Woman Administrator along with new administrative responsibilities as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

"I would like to thank Charlie and Kristina for stepping into these new administrative roles," said Lanning. "They have both proven themselves as leaders in the department and I look forward to working with them in their expanded roles as we continue to support the success of Falcon student-athletes."
