Men's Soccer to welcome defending national champions, St. Olaf

The UW-River Falls men's soccer team returns to action hosting St. Olaf College on Tuesday.

FALCON NOTES

  • UWRF won its inaugural game on Aug. 31, defeating Crown College 3-1. Freshman forward Landon Christiansen led the way, recording a hat trick, and was named the UWRF Male Falcon of the Week.
  • The UWRF men's soccer program embarks on its inaugural season as a varsity sport. The Falcons roster includes 10 upperclassmen and 17 freshman newcomers.
  • Falcons head coach Evan Sassano leads the UWRF men's soccer team after spending three previous season as the lead assistant coach at the University of St. Thomas, where the Tommies transitioned from Division III to the first ever Division I men's soccer program in Minnesota.
  • UWRF is one of three new programs competing in the Wisconsin Intercolleigate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in the conference's first year of men's soccer since the 2014 season. The conference will be eligible for an automatic NCAA postseason bid.
