Men’s Soccer Shut Out Against the Blugolds

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 defeat against UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Simpson Field, dropping to 3-6-3 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play. The Falcons struggled to generate scoring opportunities against a strong Blugolds attack, managing just seven shots in the match.

UWRF's offense was limited to three shots in the first half, one on target, as Eau Claire built a 2-0 lead with goals from Tate McDermott and Carson Kowalski. The Falcons picked up in the second half, adding four shots with three on goal, but couldn't break through. Goalkeeper Josh Bates delivered a season-best performance, making nine saves to keep the game within reach against Eau Claire's 21 shots (13 on goal).

UWRF earned three corner kicks but couldn't convert, compared to the Blugolds' nine. Carter Eklund led the offense with two shots (one on goal), joined by Sorel Richardson, Ben Harris and Mauricio Cuevas all with one shot on goal apiece.

The Falcons will face off against the Warhawks when they travel to Whitewater next weekend.
