ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The UW-River Falls men's fell 2-1 in a nonconference match at Bethel University Monday afternoon.

The Falcons earned a 1-0 lead in the first half before the Royals scored a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation, including the game-winner with under three minutes remaining for the win.

Just under 40 minutes in, a deep free kick chance by the Falcons was converted by freshman Danny Acevedo, who headed in his first collegiate goal to give UWRF a 1-0 lead through the first half.

While Bethel held a slim 11-9 shot attempt advantage in the first half, they put on the pressure in the final 45 minutes, outshooting the Falcons 18-2 as UWRF weathered the storm for most of the match. With under 10 minutes remaining, the home team broke the shutout and then scored the late goal to complete the comeback.

Falcon freshman goalkeeper Jaden Mendias made his second start of the season and notched a season-high five saves, facing 29 shots. Sorel Richardson and Daniel Pirillo led the Falcons with two shots on goal each.

UWRF (3-9-3, 0-3-1 WIAC) closes out the regular season on Friday, Oct. 31 at UW-Stout.
