Falcons Track & Field competes at Platteville and Saint Mary’s

The UW-River Falls track & field program had a productive weekend, competing at the Platteville Invitational and SMU Cardinal Invitational.

UW-Platteville Invitational

  • Jack Richter represented River Falls in the men's 5,000 meters, clocking in at 15:31. Richter's time is a new career best, and ranks eighth all time in the UWRF record book.
  • In the women's 5,000 meters, sophomore Emma Karnitz led the way with a time of 18:43. Peyton Opsahl was two spots behind with a time of 18:45. Amber Lawrence clocked in at 18:21.

SMU Cardinal Invitational

  • Trever Jensen won the men's 100 meters, clocking in at a career-best time of 10.68 that ranks tied-for-second all-time at UWRF. Jensen also placed first in the men's 200 meters, clocking in at 22.12 — the time ranks seventh in the UWRF record book.
  • In the women's 1,500 meters, Adison Wilde placed first overall with a time of 4:49.49 that ranks sixth in the UWRF record book. Laina Viere placed second at 4:55.86 and Jaidyn McAlpine completed the top-three sweep with a third-place finish at 4:56.92.
  • The trio of Annika Gunderson (3.82m), Abigail Biggs (3.45m), and Kalli Jo Klocke (3.45m) took the top three placements in the women's pole vault.
  • Logan Munson took home the top placement in the men's 1,500 meters, clocking in at 4:02.94. The career-best mark ranks seventh all-time in the outdoor record book. Wyatt Johnson placed second at 4:09.45.
  • Joel Alexander had a productive day, placing first in the pole vault at 4.30 meters (14-01.25), first in triple jump with a mark of 13.32 meters (43-08.5), and third in men's long jump at 6.46 meters (21-02.5).
  • The Falcons swept the men's high jump, with Zane Habisch leading the way in first at 1.98 meters (6-06) — the mark is a new career best and ranks tied-for-seventh at UWRF. Yaih Marial (1.85 meters/6-00.75) placed second and Parker Woodland (1.75 meters/5-08.75) took third place.
  • In the women' hammer throw, Lauryn Schutz recorded a career-best throw of 45.41 meters (148-11) to place second overall and rank ninth in the UWRF record book.
  • Tyler Parker placed second in the men's 400 meters with a career-best time of 50.22, ranking 10th all time in the River Falls record book.
  • In the women's 100-meter hurdles, Brianna Strehlau placed second at 15.75.
  • Brady Sindelir took second in the men's shot put with a mark of 14.46 meters (47-05.25). On the women's side, Schutz placed third at 11.97 meters (39–3.25).
  • Levi Miest and Cooper Smith took the top two placements in the men's 3,000 steeplechase. Miest finished at 10:02.11 and Smith clocked in at 10:20.57. 
  • Haylie Rasmussen led the way in women's high jump with a second-place finish at 1.48 meters (4-10.25).
  • Cooper Hennemann was UWRF's top finisher in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.01. On the women's side, Greta Lauer placed second with a career-best time of 1:13.37.
  • Makaiah Kempe placed second in the women's long jump with a career-best mark of 4.80 meters (15-09). Kempe also placed third in the women's triple jump with a mark of 10.25 meters (33-07.5).
  • Cailyn Kuechle was UWRF's top finisher in the women's 800 meters at 2:21.67. Madi Whitman placed third in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:22.23.
  • In the 4x400 relay, UWRF's men's team placed first with a time of 3:27.96. The women's relay team placed second at 4:28.68.

Up Next

  • Next up, the Falcons will be back in action next week at a number of meets. UWRF will compete at the Gustie Twilight on April 16, before heading to the Minnesota State Invitational and Carleton Relays over the weekend.
