The UW-River Falls men's and women's track program concluded a busy weekend, competing at the Maverick Invitational in Mankato, Minnesota and the Carleton Relays in Northfield, Minnesota.
Maverick Invitational
- In the 10,000 meters, UWRF swept the men's and women's competitions. Laina Viere won the women's race with a time of 38:34.67 and Ryan Pierson won the men's event at 32:39.07.
- In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Jaidyn McAlpine placed fifth overall with a career-best time of 11:55.68, which ranks seventh in the UWRF record book.
Carleton Relays
- In the men's 100 meters, Trever Jensen led a top-three sweep with a first-place finish at 11.04. Jacob Balcome placed second at 11.49 and Caleb Royal finished third with a time of 11.57.Â
- Jensen also won the men's 200 meters, clocking in at 22.61.
- Brielle Kuechle had a productive day, winning the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.04, which ranks seventh in the UWRF record book. She also won the women's long jump with a mark of 5.33 meters (17-06).
- In the women's 1,500 meters, Adison Wilde placed second with a time of 4:47.01, which moved her up to fifth in the UWRF record book.
- The Falcons took the top four placements in the women's triple jump: Kateley Schlicht led the way at 10.15 meters (33-03.75).Â
- Machacek (26.82) and Rasmussen (27.17) went one-two in the women's 200 meters.
- Cailyn Kuechle won the women's 400 meters with a time of 58.85, which ranks seventh in the Falcons record book.
- The trio of Annika Gunderson (3.50m/11-05.75), Kalli Jo Klocke (3.50m/11-05.75), and Abigail Biggs (3.50m/11-05.75) took the top three placements in the women's pole vault. In men's pole vault, Cole Darling placed first with a height of 4.42 meters (14-06).Â
- Logan Munson led the way in the men's 800 meters with a first-place finish at 1:55.75.
- In throws, Charles Baker won both the hammer throw (49.00m/160-09) and discus (39.67m/130-02). His hammer throw performance ranks seventh all-time at UWRF. Lauryn Schutz won on the women's side of the hammer throw, with a mark of 47.18 meters (154-09) to rank fifth all-time in the program record book.
- In shot put, Schutz placed first with a throw of 11.96 meters (39-03). Brady Sindelir was second on the men's side at 14.02 meters (46-0).
- Zane Habisch (1.90m/6-02.75) and Yaih Marial (1.85m/6-00.75) placed first and second in the men's high jump.
- Joe Guthrie won the men's javelin with a throw of 49.35 meters (161-11), which ranks ninth in the UWRF record book. Jaren Spridco placed second at 47.33 meters (155-03).
- Cooper Hennemann was the runner-up in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.39. On the women's side, Greta Lauer placed third at 1:09.66.
- UWRF's 4x100 meter teams swept both sides of the relay. The men's team clocked in at 43.70 and the women's team finished at 50.34.
Up Next
Next on the schedule, UWRF will compete at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational in St. Paul Minnesota, which is hosted by Macalester and takes place April 24-25. The Falcons will also send two athletes to the Drake Relay in Des Moine, Iowa, where they will compete on April 25.
