The UW-River Falls track and field program is set to send four athletes to compete at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio on May 22-24.
Jacob Balcome, Annika Gunderson, Joe Guthrie, and Yaih Marial will represent River Falls at the championships, earning NCAA qualifying marks in their respective events. The 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be hosted by Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and take place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The Falcons are coming off the 2025 WIAC Championships, in which the men's team tied a program record for its highest ever team finish at the conference championships — UWRF finished fifth with 44.5 points. The women's team placed seventh with 28 points.

FALCON NOTES
- Jacob Balcome enters the meet looking for similar success that he saw at the NCAA Indoor Championships, where the sophomore was crowned national champion in the men's heptathlon. The Alexandria, Minnesota native enters the meet ranked third in Division III in the men's decathlon rankings with a score of 6,915, and is coming off a WIAC championship in the event.
- Yaih Marial heads to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships tied for12th in Division III in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters (6-9). Marial's trip to Ohio for the championships will mark his second career appearance at nationals, after competing in the high jump at this year's indoor championships.
- Annika Gunderson enters the meet with a mark of 3.82 meters (12-6.25) in the women's pole vault. Gunderson's trip to this year's NCAA Championships will mark her third consecutive qualification to the outdoor championships and her sixth career national championship qualification across indoor and outdoor track.
- Freshman Joe Guthrie will look to keep his momentum going at the national championships, fresh off two All-WIAC recognitions at the 2025 conference championship meet. Guthrie will compete in the men's decathlon, in which he ranks 16th in the Division III rankings with a score of 6,508.
