Falcons Top Cobbers Behind Aure's 100th Point

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls Falcons women's hockey opened 2026 with a 5-2 win over the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers Friday night at Hunt Arena, highlighted by a milestone moment from MaKenna Aure.

UWRF struck first late in the opening period when Kailey Niccum scored at 16:03. After Concordia evened the game in the 18th minute, the Falcons reclaimed the lead in the final seconds of the period as Aure connected on a power play goal with 10 seconds remaining, recording the 100th point of her career and extending her program record as the Falcons' all-time leading scoring defender.

The Falcons pulled away in the second period behind an unassisted goal from Kaitlyn Ronn at 14:59. Followed by an even strength score by Sophia Hess from Megan Goodreau, her second assist of the evening, late in the frame to take a 4-1 lead into the third.

Concordia found the net early in the final period, but Gracyn Knowles answered in less than a minute at 3:25 to restore the three-goal cushion and secure the 5-2 victory for the Falcons.

Jordan O'Kane picked up the win in net with 14 saves as the Falcons outshot the Cobbers 43-16. With the victory, UWRF improves to 10-1-0 on the season. The Falcons will return to action Saturday, Jan. 3, hosting Concordia-Moorhead once again with puck drop at 2:05 p.m.
