No. 1 Falcons Set for Midweek Test, Top-10 Clash on the Road This Weekend

The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team returns to action this week with a pair of non-conference matchups, beginning Wednesday night at St. Catherine before heading for a marquee top 10 showdown with No. 8 Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday.

The Falcons enter the week riding strong momentum, sitting at 11-1 overall and 2-1 in WIAC play, while continuing to establish themselves as one of the most complete teams in Division III.

THE SERIES

UW-River Falls has historically controlled the series with St. Catherine, owning a 14-2-1 all-time record. The Falcons are currently riding a 13-game winning streak in the series, including a dominant 12-1 victory in the most recent meeting on Jan. 9, 2025.

Saturday's matchup renews another competitive rivalry. UW-River Falls holds a 22-28-4 all-time record against Gustavus but has gone 7-3 over the last 10 meetings. The Falcons have dropped the most two recent contests against Gustavus as they look to change the tides this upcoming weekend.

  • Senior defender MaKenna Aure was named WIAC Player of the Week after becoming the first defender in program history to surpass 100 career points, cementing her place as the program's all-time leading scoring defender.
  • Megan Goodreau continues to lead the Falcon offense, posting a hat-trick in their last matchup against Concordia College. Goodreau is averaging 7 total points per game so far this season. 
  • Goaltender Jordan O'Kane continues to anchor the back end, posting a 1.09 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage, with three shutouts on the season.
  • The Falcons' power plays have been a major strength, converting at nearly 39% while holding opponents to just 8% efficiency.
