RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The
UW-River Falls volleyball team fell to UW-Platteville 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) Friday evening in the WIAC match at Page Arena.
The Falcons battled throughout the opening set, which featured one tie before the Pioneers closed out a 25-19 decision. UWRF faced its largest deficit of the night in the second set, falling 25-15, despite four ties and a lead change early in the frame. The Falcons came back in the third set, keeping the match within reach before UW-Platteville again pulled away for a 25-19 win to complete the sweep.
Blessing Adebisi led the Falcons offensively with eight kills while hitting .333, adding one solo block and two block assists for 10 points. Emily Brenner followed with seven kills, while Amanda Baumann contributed five kills on 14 attacks without an error for a .357 hitting percentage.
Cora Sayotovich directed the Falcon offense with a season-high 29 assists. Audrey Petersen paced the defensive effort with 17 digs, while Sayotovich and Lauren Noth each recorded four digs. Noth also added three kills and two block assists.
UWRF hit .138 as a team, including a .179 mark in the third set. UW-Platteville finished at .254 and recorded 42 kills to UWRF's 35.
The Falcons (8-4, 0-2 WIAC) remain at Page Arena tomorrow to host a WIAC/MIAC Quadrangular. UWRF faces Saint Benedict at 11 a.m. and St. Kate's at 5 p.m.
