MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) announced its Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for Oct. 12-18, with UW-River Falls freshman goalkeeper
Greyson Shiek earning Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week honors.
Shiek, a freshman from Andover, Minn., earns his first career WIAC weekly honor after helping the Falcons post a 1-0-1 record last week. He totaled 21 saves and posted a .913 save percentage across 180 minutes in goal.
He set a UW-River Falls single-game record with 16 saves in a scoreless draw at Saint John's University (Minn.) before adding five saves in a 3-2 WIAC road victory at UW-Stevens Point. He faced 41 shots and allowed two goals across the two matches, helping the Falcons earn three conference points with the win over the Pointers.
Shiek joins teammate Jaime Mata as the second Falcon to earn a WIAC weekly award this season.
The Falcons (6-5-4, 1-1-1 WIAC) return to action this afternoon, hosting Hamline University at 3:30 p.m.
