Goodreau’s Four-Goal Night Powers No. 1 Falcons Past Saint Mary’s, 8-1

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team rolled past Saint Mary's University, 8-1, in its final non-conference game of the 2025-26 regular season Tuesday night at Hunt Arena.

Megan Goodreau led the way, tying a UWRF single-game record with four goals - including a first-period natural hat trick, her second of the season. The victory marked the Falcons' 17th consecutive win, improving to 21-1 overall.

Goodreau wasted no time setting the tone. Just 15 seconds into the contest, the senior forward finished a feed from Alexa Niccum and MaKenna Aure to give UWRF a 1-0 lead. Saint Mary's responded less than a minute later to even the score, but the rest of the night belonged to Goodreau.

While killing a penalty midway through the opening frame, Goodreau struck again at 6:21 with a shorthanded tally. She completed the hat trick at 12:12 of the first, sending the Falcons into the intermission with a 3-1 advantage.

Her fourth goal came at 9:40 of the second period, extending the lead to 4-1 and matching the program's single-game goals record. Seven players in program history now share the mark, most recently Bailey Olson, who scored four against UW-Superior last season.

Aure pushed the lead to 5-1 late in the second, finishing a Madison Lavergne pass at 17:03.

The Falcons continued to apply pressure in the third. Sophia Hess scored at the six-minute mark, and Makenna Kadrlik netted her first of the season just 49 seconds later. Kylie Jones capped the scoring with a late power play goal.

UWRF outshot Saint Mary's 51-22, including a 21-4 advantage in the second period. The Falcons went 1-for-3 on the power play, added a shorthanded goal, and held the Cardinals scoreless on three opportunities.

In net, Jordan O'Kane earned the win with 21 saves. Goodreau finished with four goals on eight shots, while six different Falcons recorded multi-point performances. Hess totaled three points (1g, 2a), Aure added three (1g, 2a), and Brooklyn Riley (2a) and Alexa Niccum (2a) also contributed in the victory.

The Falcons remain at home this weekend, hosting UW-Stevens Point in a Friday-Saturday series.
