RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team earned a convincing 7-1 win over UW-Superior on Saturday afternoon to sweep the Yellowjackets in the WIAC O'Brien Cup Tournament Semifinals.

The Falcons, now 26-1 overall, advance to the WIAC O'Brien Cup Championship game. Set to make their 13th consecutive appearance in the O'Brien Cup title game, the Falcons will host UW-Eau Claire next Saturday, March 7 with a 2:05 p.m. puck drop at Hunt Arena. Fans can PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE HERE.

While the Yellowjackets struck first with a power play goal midway through the opening period, the Falcons answered quickly later in the first and seized control in the second five goals to break the game open. MaKenna Aure scored the equalizer late in the first period before UWRF eventually added six more goals.

Megan Goodreau paced the offense with two goals, including one on the power play, pushing her season total to 35 and establishing a new UWRF single-season goal scoring record, breaking the previous mark of 33 set by Maddie McCollins in 2023-24.

Sophia Hess added a goal and an assist, while Alexa Niccum, Gracyn Knowles and Kylie Jones each found the back of the net. Goodreau, Aure, and Hess all had two assists each.

On special teams, UWRF capitalized on three of four power-play opportunities and limited Superior to one goal on the advantage. The Falcons also controlled play at even strength, holding a commanding 47-14 edge in shots on goal.

In net, Jordan O'Kane earned the victory with 13 saves, improving her season mark to 22-1 overall. O'Kane's 22 wins is now the second-most by a goalie in UWRF single-season history.
