PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams put together an impressive showing this weekend at the Platteville Invitational.
On the distance side, Jack Richter led the way for the Falcons in the 5k with a time of 14:59.74, moving him into the No. 7 spot in program history while setting another personal record. Ryan Pierson followed closely at 15:18.21, cracking the top-10 all-time list at No. 8 with a big PR. Alex Pazdernik rounded the top-3 and added a 12-second personal best with a time of 15:37.59. In the women's 5k, Emma Karnitz posted a 10-second PR of 18:32, winning her heat.
In the 1,500-meter run, Wyatt Johnson turned in a PR with a three-second cut at 4:02.3, ranking him No. 6 all-time at UWRF. Pazdernik, Myles Rasmussen, Jalyssa Groskreutz, and Issabella Jeurissen each had personal record performances of their own.
The steeplechase saw more history added. Jaidyn McAlpine recorded a 14-second best of 11:18, moving her into the No. 2 spot in program history and closing in on the school record. Levi Miest delivered a strong performance for the men, running a six-second PR (9:46), moving him into No. 6 all-time.
The 800-meter group may be the highlight of the weekend. Logan Munson took the event title (1:54.86) , leading a trio of Falcons who excelled in the race. Tyler Parker posted a two-second PR of 1:55.43, finishing in third place. Then, Kaden Tinney added a top-25 finish a massive PR of 1:58.8 in a very competitive field. Coach noted, "the 800 squad balled out today."
In the field, Georgia Mundt led with a top-10 program mark in discus with a throw of 42.16 meters. The hammer throw athletes showed up as they did early in the indoor season. Lauryn Schutz now sits in the No. 2 all-time spot with a toss of 50.33 meters with Ali Clifford close behind now at No. 5 with a throw of 48.38 meters.
Jacob Balcome posted a strong performance in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.31, putting him in the No. 7 spot all-time. Logan Schmidt added to the record-setting weekend in the shot put with a throw of 15.71 meters, good to move him into No. 2 spot in program history.
In a large, competitive meet, the Falcons stuck with some of the best athletes in the region and added program setting numbers with massive PRs across the board.
