Falcons splits singles play but fall short against Pointers in WIAC Quarterfinals

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The No. 6-seeded UW-River Falls women's tennis team fell 5-2 at No. 3 seed UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the 2026 WIAC Tournament.

The Falcons finished the 2025-26 season with a 7-16 overall record, matching last season's win total, which was the most wins in the program's history since 2010.

UWRF opened the day by claiming one of three doubles matches. The tandem of Brooke Lindeman and Hailey Reuvers secured a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, but Stevens Point took the other two flights to earn the doubles point.

In singles play, the Falcons found success in the middle of the lineup with two straight-set victories. Lindeman delivered a strong performance at No. 2 singles, earning a 6-3, 6-2 win, while Sarah Baker followed with a 7-5, 6-4 decision at No. 3.

The Pointers, however, controlled the remaining matches to seal the team victory. Sydney Wiener battled at No. 1 but fell in straight sets, while Audrey Ladewig dropped a tight contest at No. 4 that included a second-set tiebreak. Stevens Point also picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to round out the scoring.
