RIVER FALLS, Wis. — UW-River Falls Athletics has unveiled "Fred's Threads," a new series of sport-specific Freddy Falcon marks celebrating the spirit and tradition of Falcon Athletics. The collection features custom illustrations representing all UW-River Falls varsity sports.

The Freddy marks were designed by the UW-River Falls University Marketing and Communications Office in collaboration with UWRF Athletics. The artwork draws inspiration from the energy, movement and competitive spirit of Falcon student-athletes while maintaining Freddy's recognizable personality and the University's visual identity.

Freddy Falcon's story begins with the adoption of the Falcon nickname in 1931, when River Falls Teachers College students chose "Falcons" in a campus-wide contest because the bird symbolized leadership, strength, intelligence, and fearlessness. Freddy Falcon was introduced around 1970 as the university's official mascot and was later redesigned into the familiar character seen today in 1987. Freddy continues to represent the pride, tradition, and spirit of UW-River Falls.
