The UW-River Falls women's tennis team wrapped up a busy weekend of tournament competition Sept. 25-27, as the Falcons competed at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships and the Gustavus Fall Invitational in Saint Peter, Minn., as well as the UW-Stout Polytechnic Invite in Menomonie.

ITA Midwest Regional Championships
Brooke Lindeman and Sydney Wiener represented UWRF at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, competing in both singles and doubles.

The duo fell to Claudi Curtis and Eelif Oezen 8-1 in the opening round of doubles.

In singles, Wiener fell to Sophia Cosgrove of the College of St. Scholastica 6-3, 6-2, while Lindeman dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Coe College's Aliandra Hagness.

Gustavus Fall Invitational
Mykela Hanson advanced to the championship match of Draw 6 after posting three victories. Hanson received a first-round bye before defeating Hamline's Shayla Draper 5-4, 4-2 in the second round and UW-La Crosse's Emma Herzog 5-3, 4-2 in the semifinals. Hanson fell to Gustavus' Melat Tabara 6-0, 6-4 in the championship match to finish as the runner-up in Draw 6.

Melina Lee also picked up a singles victory in Draw 4, defeating St. Olaf's Lidia Bach 4-0, 4-2 in the opening round before falling to Gustavus' Katie Thompson 4-2, 4-0 in the second round.

Makenna Sanders fell to Concordia Wisconsin's Taylor Peterson 4-2, 4-1 in Draw 5, while Jaimey Jessen-Olson dropped a 4-0, 5-3 decision to St. Catherine's Anna Runck in Draw 8.

Emma Yanish fell to UW-Stevens Point's Hayley Jensen 4-2, 5-3 in Draw 9, while Felicity Fischer fell to St. Norbert's Anna Vechart 4-1, 4-0 in Draw 10.

In doubles action, Mykela Hanson and Makenna Sanders reached the semifinals of Draw 4 after posting two victories. The duo defeated UW-La Crosse's Perkins and Klicker 8-7 in the opening round before defeating Saint Mary's Gangasani and Jensen 8-5 in the second round. Hanson and Sanders fell to Gustavus' Thompson and Wright 8-2 in the semifinals.

Emma Yanish and Jaimey Jessen-Olson also picked up a first-round victory in Draw 1, defeating Carroll's Franke and Niebler 8-5 before falling to Saint Benedict's March and Yahn 8-1 in the second round.

Melina Lee and Felicity Fischer received a first-round bye in Draw 2 before falling to Saint Benedict's Stritesky and Erdal 8-3 in the second round.

UW-Stout Polytechnic Invite
Kamilla Mamedova led the Falcons at the UW-Stout Invite on Sunday, finishing third in Flight 3. Mamedova defeated UW-Stout's Mattie Schilling 8-5 in the opening round before falling in her next match. She bounced back in the third-place match, defeating UW-Superior's Natalie Thompson 8-3.

Selma Kolb also picked up a consolation victory in Flight 3, defeating UW-Eau Claire's Meg Greenless.

In Flight 1, Jaimey Jessen-Olson went 1-1, defeating UW-Eau Claire's Olivia Wohnoutka 8-4 before falling to UW-Eau Claire's Kendall Sullivan 8-4 in the third-place match. Makenna Sanders dropped her first two matches before bouncing back with an 8-6 victory over Wohnoutka.

In Flight 2, Felicity Fischer advanced to the consolation bracket with a victory over UW-Stout's Maggie Hunter before falling to UW-Stout's Olivia Mihalik. Sala Hayes also picked up a consolation victory over Hunter after dropping her first two matches.

Up next, the Falcons return to WIAC dual match action Wednesday, Sept. 30, hosting UW-La Crosse at 3:30 p.m. at Ramer Tennis Courts.
