ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
Article I
Name of Organization
The University of Wisconsin - River Falls Athletic Hall of Fame
Article II
Purpose
The UW-River Falls Athletic Hall of Fame is established to pay tribute, to give recognition, and to enhance school tradition by honoring former athletes, teams, coaches or others who have shown distinctive, unique or exceptional athletic ability or have made positive contributions to UW-River Falls. Being a Hall of Fame designee serves to recognize the extraordinary accomplishments of the athlete and serve as a constant reminder to the UW-River Falls community of the positive accomplishments of the athletic department and the athletes involved.
Article III
Section 1.
Categories
A maximum of eight individuals may be inducted into the Hall of Fame every two years under the heading of Athletes, UW-River Falls Coaches’ Accomplishments, and Team Selection. A ninth individual may be inducted every two years as a Positive Contributor.
A. Athletes
Inductees shall consist of UW-River Falls athletes and/or coaches who have made outstanding contributions to the athletic programs of UW-River Falls.
1. All UW-River Falls letter award winners are eligible.
2. The candidate must be a graduate of UW-River Falls. (The Board of Directors may waive this under certain conditions.)
3. Candidates are eligible for Hall of Fame consideration ten years after their last date of competition.
4. Athletic achievement is the prime consideration for induction into the Hall of Fame. Outstanding post-graduate accomplishments can also be a contributing factor for Hall of Fame consideration.
B. UW-River Falls Coaches
1. Individuals may not be considered for induction into the UW-River Falls Hall of Fame while serving on the Hall of Fame Committee.
2. Active members of the UW-River Falls coaching staff or administrative team may not be considered for induction into the UW-River Falls Hall of Fame.
3. Coaches selected into the Hall of Fame are part of the maximum of eight individuals eligible every two years.
4. The won/lost record at UW-River Falls, the length of one’s coaching career, concern for the welfare of student-athletes, as well as achievements at UW-River Falls are to be factors influencing the selection of a coach for induction.
C. Positive Contributors
The Hall of Fame Committee may select one (1) individual as a positive contributor every two years in addition to the eight selected under sections A and B.
1. UW-River Falls graduates who have had distinguished careers as coaches bringing recognition to UW-River Falls as a result of their outstanding career and accomplishments.
2. Individuals who have made positive contributions to the UW-River Falls athletic department and given unselfishly of their time and/or talent above and beyond expectations.
3. Faculty members, university employees or friends of the university who have given beyond normal expectations of time, talent, and support or in any way made positive contributions to the welfare of the UW-River Falls athletic department.
a. One does not have to be a UW-River Falls graduate under this category.
D. Team Selections
1. eam achievement is the prime consideration for induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
2. Team brought recognition and prominence to UWRF.
3. Eligible ten years after last date of competition
4. One team selected per year (or multiple teams of same sport in consecutive years)
Section 2.
Rights and Privileges
Individuals installed as a member of the UW-River Falls Athletic Hall of Fame are members for life. A portrait and suitable engraving will be on display in an appropriate area of the university.
Section 3.
Voting procedures for selection into the Hall of Fame
1. The UW-River Falls Athletic Director will serve as Chairperson of the Hall of Fame selection committee.
2. The Chairperson shall distribute to the Hall of Fame Committee a list of nominees prior to the first meeting of the selection board.
3. The Hall of Fame committee shall determine the method of selecting the nominees to be considered.
Article IV
Section 1
General
The Board of Directors is to govern and administer the Hall of Fame selection within the guidelines set forth in the by-laws. The Board of Directors shall establish policies and procedures necessary for the proper functioning of the UW-River Falls Hall of Fame selection process.

Membership-Board of Directors
A. Permanent Members
1. Athletic Director
2. Associate Athletic Director or Senior Woman Administrator
3. Faculty Athletic Representative (men)
4. Faculty Athletic Representative (women)
5. UW-River Falls Alumni Office Representative
6. UW-River Falls Sports Information Director
B. Appointed by UW-River Falls Athletic Administrative Team
1. UW-River Falls Female Student-Athlete
2. UW-River Falls Male Student-Athlete
C. Elected by the Board of Directors
1. Three (3) alumni letter winners
2. Two (2) interested citizens at large
Section 3.
Selection of Elected Board Members
It is the responsibility of the permanent board members to place into nomination and elect, by simple majority, eligible candidates for the five (5) elected Hall of Fame committee positions.
Section 4.
Voting Rights and Terms of Office
1. All members of the Hall of Fame committee shall be voting members.
2. Elected Board members are elected for a four- (4) year term.
3. Board members are limited to serving a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms of office.
4. After serving two consecutive terms as a board member, one may not serve again without sitting out two years.
Elected Board members failing to attend two consecutive regular meetings of the Board without providing an acceptable reason to the Chairperson of the Hall of Fame committee may be dropped from the Board of Directors. In such case the Board shall elect a replacement at the next regular Board meeting.
