Transfer Student-Athletes

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CONTACT WITH UWRF COACHES
If you are a current student-athlete at any four-year school,
UW-River Falls coaches may not speak with you without written permission from your current school or a self release form.
Continue reading below for details about how to obtain permission to speak with our coaches.

If you are interested in transferring to UW-River Falls from either a NCAA Division I, II or NAIA institution, you must be in the Transfer Portal or we need to receive written permission from your current school’s compliance office prior to our coaches contacting you directly, which includes email or phone calls.  Once this release is received by our athletics compliance office you may speak freely with our coaches.

If you are interested in transferring to UW-River Falls from another Division III institution, you must either have written permission from your current school or complete the NCAA Division III Self-Release Form. This will allow contact between you and the UW-River Falls coach for up to 30 days. The self-release form should be submitted to both the head coach of the sport you would like to participate in and Director of Athletics, Crystal Lanning, at crystal.lanning@uwrf.edu.

If you are interested in transferring to UW-River Falls from a 2-year institution you do not need permission to contact our coaches and may do so at any time.

Because each transfer situation is unique to a number of circumstances, it may not be possible to immediately determine a transfer student-athletes eligibility status simply through an email or phone conversation. UW-River Falls will contact your current and any other previous schools you have attended to determine your level of participation in organized athletics to provide you with an accurate account of your remaining eligibility.

The NCAA has resources related to transferring between schools as well. That information can be found here.
