Lance Westberg rejoined the UWRF men's basketball coaching staff in the summer of 2022.
A River Falls native, he previously served as an assistant coach under Jeff Berkhof from 2014-19 while also spending time as the UWRF head women's golf coach.Â
Most recently, Westberg was the head men's basketball coach at Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y., for three seasons.Â
During Westberg's five prior seasons helping guide the Falcons, UWRF advanced to three WIAC Championship games, including the 2017 WIACÂ Tournament Champions in which he was a member of the WIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
Prior to UW-River Falls, Westberg spent a season as an assistant coach at River Falls High School and spent three seasons as the head coach and director of the Minnesota-based Triple Threat Club team, elevating the U15-U17 team to a ranking in the Northstar Hoops Report.
Westberg played four years at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul where he was a part of three regular season UMAC championships, three conference tournament championships, three NCAA National Tournament appearances from 2010-13, and an NCCAA National Championship in 2010. Individually, he earned honorable mention to the All-UMAC team during the 2012-13 season along with being named the conference championship MVP, and the UMAC Individual Sportsmanship Award.
Westberg and his wife, Courtney, reside in River Falls. Courtney is a UWRF alumna and teaches fourth grade in Prescott, Wis.
