Emma Nordness (Excelsior, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's HS) assist. Later in the period, a Forester penalty set up the Falcons first power play of the game. The Falcons capitalized on the opportunity and a
Kayleigh Bell (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater HS) slap shot zipped by Forester goalie Alyssa Wintermute at 9:09. It her first goal of the season
Kait Mason (Eagan, MN, Eagan HS) and
Katie Flanagan (Roseville, MN, Roseville HS) assisted Bell's goal. Twenty-four seconds into their second power play, the Falcons took at 3-0 lead on
Jessica Thompson's (Shoreview, MN, Mounds View HS) second goal of the seaon. Nordness and Conrad added assists.
The second period yielded similar results for the Falcons.
Breanne Hrabe (New Prague, MN, New Prague HS) added back-to-back goals for the Falcons in the period.
Jamie Briski (Chisholm, MN, Hibbing-Chisholm HS) intercepted a Forester power-play-pass at the redline and dished it to Hrabe who put it past Wintermute at 9:26. At 17:55 Bell and
Katie Batters (Champlin, MN, Champlin Park HS) worked the puck around the front of the crease to Hrabe who beat Wintermute on the stick side and lasered it past her. The two goals in the period put the Falcons up 5-0 and were Hrabes third and fourth this season.
The final period was relatively calm in regard to the first two. Lake Forest broke up
Cassi Campbell's (Anchorage, AK, Toronto Rattlers) shutout bid with a goal 24 seconds into the period. It was a power-play-goal.
Heather Horgen (Grand Rapids, MN, Grand Rapids HS) put the Falcons up 6-1 with her second goal of the season at 10:37.
Campbell stopped 14 of 15 shots faced in the crease and improved to 2-0-0 on the season.
The Falcons kncoked in 2 of 4 power play attempts while Lake Forest tipped in 1 of 5. Each team had six penalties for 12 minutes.
The Falcons improved to 4-0-0 and 3-0-0 in the NCHA this season. All four of their wins have come by four goals or more.
Tomorrow, the two square off again to complete the two game series. Action is set to get under way at 2:05 p.m. at Hunt Arena.
