Men's Basketball Picks Up 10th Win in Blowout, 85-58

Anderson leads way with 12

The men's basketball team picked up its 10th win of the season with a complete team effort dismantling Macalester College, 85-58 Wednesday night at the Karges Center.  Nine Falcons scored seven points or more points in the win.

UWRF stormed out of the gate with an 11-3 run with baskets from all five starters.  River Falls would go on to take a 22-point lead with just over four minutes remaining in the opening half.  The early run was highlighted by two three-pointers by Aaron Anderson (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater HS) on his way to his team-high 12 points.

Macalester shot just 7-27 (.259) from the field in the half before making their final three shots and trimming the Falcons half time advantage to 16.

In the second half, River Falls scored 15 of the first 21 points, jumpstarted by another Anderson three. They were able to put it cruise control most of the second half. The lead never dipped below 20 again and hit a high of 30 midway through.

Coach Jeff Berkhof was able to go to his reserves with eight minutes to play.  All but two Falcons who saw action scored for UWRF.

Zach Smith (Rochester, MN, John Marshall HS) scored a career-high nine points on 4-6 shooting and 1-1 from the charity stripe.

Brian Kimble (Stevenson Ranch, CA, Coll. of Canyons JC) joined Anderson as the only other Falcon in double figures with 10.

The No. 16 Falcons will be back in action tomorrow night (Dec. 30) at 7 p.m. when the University of Sioux Falls visits the Karges Center.
