The Falcon soccer team lost its first home game of the season on Sunday to Macalester College in overtime on a penalty kick.
The penalty kick was called with less than three minutes left in the first over time.
The game was well played by both teams. Macalester's offense came in flurries. They had 22 shots on goal in the game compared to nine for the Falcons.
The defense for River Falls looked strong throughout the entire game as they made good clears and had several blocks.
But it was in overtime that a foul was called on the Falcons giving Macalester a penalty kick with 2:13 left. Lauryn Gutierrez took the kick for the Scots and put it past
Rachel Thompson (Cedar Falls, IA, Cedar Falls) who had 12 saves in the game.
The Falcons lifetime record against Macalaster drops to 0-9.
UWRF's next game will be Saturday as they take on UW-Platteville at Ramer Field in the team's first WIAC game of the season.
