The women's soccer team went to Ripon College on Sunday and came home with a big 9-0 win. The nine goals is the most by a Falcon team since the 2004 team scored 14 in game against Superior.
The Falcons showed what they are capable of against the Red Hawks. They scored four goals in the first half and kept the pressure on in the second half and netted five goals.
Alyssa Manor (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater) had two goals and three assists, making her the team leader in points (12) and assists (6). Andrea Scanlan (Shakopee, MN, Shakopee) tallied her first two goals of the season and her collegiate career. The Falcons also got one goal each from Carlin Bunting (Cottage Grove, MN, Hastings) (2), Shaunna Joyce (Lakeville, MN, North) (1), Megan Church (White Bear Lake, MN, White Bear Lake) (1), Eryn Lansverk (White Bear Lake, MN, White Bear Lake) (5) and Madeline Duffy (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) (1). Joyce and Duffy also scored their first collegiate goals in the contest.
Bunting, Emily Stoks (Shakopee, MN, Shakopee), Jaclyn Rehmke (Albert Lea, MN, Albert Lea) and Lansverk also picked up assists in the game.
Manor scored the team's first and third goals while Scanlan scored the team's second and eighth goals.
The nine goal outburst gives the Falcons 18 goals this year. They are averaging 2.54 goals a game. On the defensive side the Falcons are allowing just .85 goals per outing.
The Falcons defense only gave up three shots in the entire game. Goalkeeper Becca Kramer (St. Michael, MN, St. Michael/Albertville) made her first appearance of the year in the second half and had two saves. Rachel Thompson (Cedar Falls, IA, Cedar Falls) started for the Falcons, but did not have to make a save in the 45 minutes she played.
UWRF moves to 5-2 on the season while the Red Hawks are now 1-6.
The Falcons next game is Wednesday at Northland College at 4 p.m.
