Bunting Scores Twice to Help Soccer Team to 2-1 Win at Hamline

Carlin Bunting (Cottage Grove, MN, Hastings) scored her second goal of the game with just 2:04 remaining to help the Falcon soccer team to a 2-1 win at Hamline on Wednesday afternoon.

The Falcons opened the scoring at 7:05 when Bunting scored her first goal of the season off a header. Cassie Stang (Stillwater, MN) crossed the ball to the middle and Bunting got her head on it to score. It was Stang's first assist of the season.

The Pipers tied the game at 1-1 at 18:22 when Natalie Cooper scored into the lower right corner of the Falcon goal. It was her sixth goal of the year. Allyse Eide picked up the assist with the cross pass.

UWRF out shot Hamline, 8-6, in the first half. Five of the Falcons' shots were on goal while just one by Hamline was on goal. HU had six corners to just two for the Falcons and Hamline finished the half with seven fouls to four for UWRF. Bunting led the Falcons with three first half shots and Megan Church (White Bear Lake, MN, White Bear Lake) had two.

Bunting won the game later with her second goal of the season. Emily Stoks (Shakopee, MN, Shakopee) and Alyssa Manor (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater) assisted on the play. It was Stoks first collegiate point.

The Falcons played well in front of goalie Rachel Thompson (Cedar Falls, IA, Cedar Falls) who did not have a save in the contest. HU goalie, Liz Stock, made seven saves. The Falcons outshot the Pipers, 14-9 in the game, including a 6-3 advantage in the second half. HU had nine corners to two for the Falcons. The fouls were even with HU finishing with eight and the Falcons seven.

The Falcons are now 6-0 against Hamline in the all-time series.

The Falcons, now 2-1 overall, will next host Augsburg on Friday at 5 p.m., at Ramer Field.
